Hit the Road, Jack

If you’d enjoyed sitting by the garden and hearing the sounds of a babbling brook while sipping on a good chardonnay and eating happy hour specials at Jackalope Ranch then no more. Thanks to the pandemic and several lock downs, Jackalope Ranch had to close and not reopen. We drove by recently and the entire property is fenced off. It doesn’t look like the restaurant will reopen anytime soon. Instead it looks like the place is ready to be demolished.

Another one of our favorites also did not survive the pandemic. Roy’s Restaurant in Rancho Mirage is now closed. There is a lease sign covering the Roy’s sign upfront where valet used to be. How sad is that? We are completely bummed out. We have spent a few Christmases at Roy’s and have celebrated our anniversaries there. Now they’re no more.

Luckily our other favorites are still open. This includes Okura Sushi, Pokehana, El Campanario and Salsas Restaurant.

Here comes the Weeknd

After the stage hands at the Coachella Valley Music Festival had setup the stage for the next act, the Swedish House Mafia came on stage and brought down the house. Their hypnotic and dizzy dance music and large screens of digital snow got the crowd jumping and hands waving in the air . The beat was so strong that it pulsated throughout the valley. Then when you thought you couldn’t feel your face anymore, the Starboy was standing there in a cool black t-shirt radiating from the fog. The Weeknd was here and he rocked the crowd with all of his greatest hits including Blinding Lights, Save your Tears, I Feel it Coming, Starboy and more. I wished the night wouldn’t end with the Weeknd’s mesmerizing lyrics and sweet vocals. But like everything that had to end, the week end came to a close.

If you’re going next weekend, be sure to pickup a ‘xochella’ t-shirt, cap or iphone case from RedBubble.
